This week 1V students were set an engineering challenge…
to create a Puff Mobile that could move along a flat surface.
The catch was that to make it move you couldn’t touch it- only blow on it!
Their materials consisted of 4 lifesavers, 3 straws, two paperclips, a piece of A4 paper and sticky tape. Students were allowed to use their materials in any way they chose.
After watching a short video of some Puff Mobiles in action, they put their thinking caps on and set to work creating their own. From a teacher’s perspective it was very interesting watching the class rise to the challenge. Some students were simply amazing! There were many different designs and of course some were more functional than others.
It was an exciting afternoon- designing, creating, testing and then modifying.
